WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?

pastormia20

One of the most common reasons I hear that people reject God is that God lets bad things happen to good people. It’s really the question of suffering. Why suffering?

At the same time that we think that we are free to accept or reject God, we also think that God can (and should) control people to avoid suffering. We seem to be hard-wired to avoid suffering ourselves and we want to save those we love from suffering.

And then there is the cross. God took on torture and death to save us. Jesus said, “take up your cross and follow me.” If faith isn’t about being saved from suffering, then what is it about? Pray about that and let’s talk about it on Sunday.

Peace,

Pastor Mia
