This week I was reading the Scripture passage from Proverbs with one of my daughters that goes along with our worship series (you can find those daily readings at the top of our webpage, www.KunaUMC.org). I love reading Scripture with kids because their eyes are fresh and every story is new. She was pretty enthusiastic about those pithy little one-liners from Proverbs with very clear guidance, so we ended up reading the whole chapter.
We are so used to thinking of Christian discipleship being open to all, that we don’t realize that nobody thought that at the time of the early church. It was truly revolutionary, brand-new thinking. God worked through early believers and first leaders, giving them eyes that were fresh and making every story new. This Sunday we’ll look at the biggest leap those early Christians made in welcoming all.
Peace,
Pastor Mia
