It’s actually pretty scandalous, God being born. That is messy business with pain, discomfort, chills, and exhaustion. But it was the only way to see us face-to-face, to uplift us with physical presence, and to show us how to live. So God was born.
The lights and decorations and gifts remind us that God came to be with us, first as a tiny baby. Just as tiny babies love everyone, so does God loves us. Just as parents love their infants, so does God love us.
Jesus’ birth in an out of the way stable, unnoticed by most, gives us some hints on where to find God today — all around but unnoticed. Where will you look for and notice God this week?
Peace,
Pastor Mia
