THIS WEEK FEB 6-12, 2019

In Worship This Week
There is no single meaning to be found in a scripture text as if once we believe we understand a story we need not consider it ever again.  The truth is that we can never exhaust a scripture’s ability to inspire.  If we will listen, the Bible will always be able to speak to us in new and powerful ways.
This Sunday I will be sharing some new thoughts on the fifth chapter of the Gospel of Luke, 5 verses 1-11, revealing a different emphasis than I have focused on before.  In the past, I have understood this story about Jesus beginning his ministry in terms of personal transformations, how our encounters with God change us as individuals.  This Sunday, I will explore how God uses these changes to speak to others, often without us even knowing we have become a tool of God’s love.
I hope to see you there!  ~ Pastor Scott ~
Coming Up!
On this coming Sunday, February 10th, Pastor Scott will offer an update concerning the world-wide meeting of United Methodists (General Conference) to be held the last weekend of this month.  The purpose of this gathering is to determine church doctrine regarding sexuality.  Those who are interested are encouraged to remain in the sanctuary following the conclusion of worship.
Also on February 10th, following the General Conference update a brief All Church Conference will be held with Rev. Brenda Sene, pastor of the Hillview UMC, presiding.  The purpose of the charge conference is to correct a mistake that was made at the fall charge conference regarding the cost of the pastor’s health insurance.  Making this change will add $200 to the total cost of pastoral leadership.
Following the all church conference, the Leadership Team will have a short meeting.

Note on Backpack Program
I would like to recognize Kuna High School Health Occupations Students of America chapter for their generous donation to the Backpack Program.  Michelle Graves, Adviser, notified me that the chapter donated the following:  32 backpacks, four boxes of food and $100.
This chapter does a service project every year at Christmas and decided the Backpack Program provided wonderful community outreach.
