This Week Jan 10-16

In Worship This Week
It's Baptism of Our Lord Sunday!  We use this Sunday to praise God, to give thanks for the sacrament of baptism, and to remember the covenant of baptism.  It's a Sunday you won't want to miss!  Join us at 10:30 a.m.
Read Matthew 3:13-17 in anticipation of worship.
A Celebration of Life
As we continue to pray for the family of Martha Eberhard following her death on Jan. 1, we will give thanks to God for Martha and celebrate her life on Thursday, Jan. 11 @ 2 p.m. at Living Hope~KUMC.  There will be a meal following the service.
"Keep the Table Open" WorshipArts Article
WorshipArts is the national magazine for The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.  The Jan/Feb 2018 issue features an article by Rev. Karen and photos by Ed.  You can read the article on the bulletin board at the church.
Star Words!
On Epiphany Sunday, Jan. 7, we tried out a new-to-us tradition: everyone present received a star word!  It works like this: choose a star without seeing the text.  Spend time praying, thinking, pondering your star word every day throughout the year.  See what happens when you seek God by following your star, like the wise ones who followed the Bethlehem star all the way to the Christ child.
If you missed worship that day and would like a star word, they are still available at the back of the sanctuary.  (Note that we'll use and share these words from time to time, so you'll need one in order to fully participate!)  Many of us are finding already that it's a curious thing how powerful these star words can be!
Star words can be mailed upon request.
Want to Pursue Your Art?
The Kuna Arts Commission is proud to announce a free workshop on Thursday, Jan. 11 @ 6 p.m. at the Kuna Event Center.  The Alexa Rose Foundation furthers the creative work of individual artists through grants and fellowships. Come to this workshop to hear about the foundation, what has been funded in the past, and how you can create a competitive application by clearly articulating what you need to further your creative practice. Open to artists of all disciplines in Ada and Canyon County. Grants are from $500 - $5,000. Workshop is free. No registration necessary.  More info here.
Room in the Inn?
It wasn't long ago that we ready about Mary and Joseph seeking shelter.  Now the need is very real right here in Kuna.
There are needs for temporary housing in order to give kids in the Kuna School District the stability of staying in the same school.  If you have a room in your home, a rental property, or other lodging that you would offer without cost to guests for a short time (from a few days to several weeks), please contact Rev. Karen immediately ( or 208-697-4510) to begin conversations about how to help.  Thank you.
