Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

This Week Sep. 20-26

In Worship This Week
We're still exploring different ways to worship, but this week may feel much more like home as we consider our local traditions and why they are important for us.  Join us for worship at 10:30 on Sunday, including birthday blessings at the end of the service for anyone with a September birthday!
Read Ephesians 3:14-21 in anticipation of worship.
Speaking Out for Our Neighbors
Earlier this month we received a letter from our bishop stating, "Love of God demands that we speak out for our neighbors to government officials who have authority over their lives."  The Leadership Team read "The Biblical Case for Saving DACA," and discussed DACA at length at our September 10 meeting.  That discussion led to the letter you will find attached here.  It will be sent to Sen. Mike Crapo, Sen. James Risch, Rep. Mike Simpson, and Rep. Raul Labrabor.  Any individual within our family of faith is invited to add their name.  Signature pages will be made available this Sunday, Sept. 24 before and after worship.
SPRC:  SPRC will be meeting September 24 at noon in Rev. Karen's office.

Sunday Supper -- September 24th
Join us this Sunday for the FREE Community Sunday Supper!  Invite your family, friends, neighbors, everyone is invited and welcome to join us!  5 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Feeding Minds: Distracted Driving
If you have never seen someone driving with one hand while holding a cell phone in their other hand, then YOU are the one holding the phone!  Distracted driving endangers all drivers, passengers, cyclists, and walkers--including little ones in our community as they go to/from school.  Join members of the Kuna Police Department this Sunday evening as they teach us what to do in response to distracted driving.  More details in the image below.
Reel To Real
Join us for a Movie and Conversation on Tuesday, September 26th.  Movie choice and time will be announced on Facebook!  We'd love to have you participate in this wonderful adventure!

Breakfast Supporting Our Young Disciples
You will want to come to church early on Sunday, Oct. 1 because our young disciples are serving up breakfast!  Feast on pancakes from 9 until 10:15 a.m., then stay for worship at 10:30 a.m.  Breakfast is free, but donations to support our children's Sunday school program are gratefully received.
Idaho Discipleship Conference - Feed To Serve
Date: Friday, October 06, 2017 -- Time: 6:00 PM - 12:00 PM -- Location: Nampa Civic Center.  For more information check out the calendar with links here.
Community Choir & Christmas Concert
Leaders are already planning, and it's time to mark your calendar for the 6th annual community choir and Christmas concert!  Dates and times are in the images below.  The best way to keep up to date is on our Facebook page:  (The page is public, so you do not need an account to view this page.)

Prayers and Sympathy
Longtime members of KUMC will remember Rev. Fred Abney who served Southside UMC (Nampa) and Kuna UMC 1972-1976.  We have received word that Rev. Fred's wife, Joan, died on Sept. 8.  Please hold Rev. Fred and their family in your prayers.
The World of Joy!
I participated in the Ministry Fair and helped KayLynn sit through an entire church service!
