Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

This Week Oct 18-24

In Worship This Week
We'll hear an old story with new voices and perhaps in a new way as we keep listening to Scripture to hear God's justice calling.  Join us in worship at 10:30 a.m.!
Read Luke 10:25-37 in anticipation of worship.
Men's Winter Clothing Urgently Needed
Wilder Hispanic Ministries (a United Methodist congregation) is trying to help farm workers in urgent need.  They are ready to distribute donations, but they are seeking those donations from several nearby UMCs.  We can help!
Do you have gently used MEN's clothing (pants, shirts, sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts coats, socks) that you would be willing to donate?  Bring these items to Kuna UMC as soon as possible and we'll get them to Wilder.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Family Camp Committee meeting!!!
If you are interested in helping to put together a Kuna United Methodist Church Family Camp for next Summer!!!!
Meeting will be at Kuna United Methodist Church Friday, October 20th at 5 p.m.  Lannie will provide a light salad to hold some of us over for our individual dinner plans as this is between work and dinner for many of us.  Please RSVP to Lannie at, so she can prepare enough salad.  Feel free to join us, this is the first meeting!
Looking Ahead to Sunday, Oct. 29--All Saints Sunday
We'll give thanks for the lives of our saints during Sunday morning worship on Oct. 29.  You will have the opportunity during the service to name the saints (those who have gone on to eternal life) you've known and loved.  If you know someone who would benefit from sharing in this kind of remembrance, please invite them to come with you to worship.
Feeding Minds on Sunday, Oct. 29 @ 5:30 & 6:30 p.m.--Kuna Cats
Join staff from Simply Cats (a no-kill shelter and rescue in Boise) for information about caring for cats--your own, strays, or feral cats in the area.  (If you've heard mention of Linda Hutchison's passion for animals, this is an organization she worked with for years.)
Youth Sunday Schoool
Our youth Sunday School had been really small. We want to be sure to infirm you if it Kiva loan dispursments. We have been hoping for a bigger group. We are problem solving to start this this week!

The World of Joy
Fun Fact:  Not everyone likes 'hugs'.   Whaaaaaaat?   It was mentioned to me by a church member last Sunday while we were passing the peace, that she could do without the hug.    Whaaaaaaaaat?  So I did an experiment and continued to pass the peace but did not offer any hugs.  I realized that I was the compulsive hugger and no one else (other than one person) compulsively hugged me.  So I ended up shaking hands with everyone instead.  It felt strange not to hug but I can understand why one would feel uncomfortable with it.  I didn't hug for many years but I can't get enough of them now!  How many of us are uncomfortable with hugs?  How can we politely say to one another that we will pass on the hugs?  You can stick your hand out real quick before the 'hugger' gets to you... that happened to me once or twice during my hugging experiment - LOL!  Or you can do the 'side hug (that Fern's real good at), that's a little less invasive.   Or you can simply ask someone "Would you like a hug?".  However we pass the peace with each other, let's do it respectably and try to be considerate of our huggee's wishes.  Peace be with you.
Thanks for Support CROP Walk!
We had 9 Living Hope disciples at the 2017 Ada County CROP Walk on Oct. 15!  Many thanks to all who walked and who generously sponsored walkers!  Donations can still be made here, and you may also choose to sponsor KUMC's team by typing "Kuna" in the Team box and selecting our church.
