Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

THIS WEEK MAY 15-21, 2019

In Worship This Week
This Sunday I am returning to the familiar character of the Samaritan woman Jesus met at a well found in John 4, verses 1-30.  As we continue this season of Eastertide and marvel at the hope of the empty tomb, this woman provides an image of how we can experience our own resurrection while we are still very much alive.  The salvation Jesus offers is not limited to what may take place following our passing.  Accepting Jesus’ offer of salvation is intended to empower a freedom in the here and now, a transformation into a right relationship with God.  I hope you’ll attend.

The United Methodist Church continues to wrestle with the results of our recent general conference decisions.  The UMC’s highest court, the Judicial Council, has now reviewed the legislation and determined what is constitutional and will go into effect, and what will be thrown out due to conflicts with our present church law.  Now that this process has been completed, strategies for moving forward are being developed.  To keep you informed, I will offer a brief presentation following worship to share my observations of what is now taking place.
